I have to add freon to my system at least once a year. Is that normal?

Freon should never need to be replaced.  If it must be added every year, there is a leak that should be repaired.

What affect does a low freon charge have on my system?

A "freon" (refrigerant) undercharge of only 10% can increase operating cost by almost 20%.

I have problems with cottonwood trees and leaves, can this affect my unit's efficiency?

A dirty evaporator, condenser and blower could increase air conditioning or heat pump electrical usage by 50% or more.

How often should I change my air filter?

It's important to change your filter monthly.  This helps the air handler run efficiently, and that means you're not wasting money. Just 100th of an inch of dirt or film on an evaporator coil can reduce its efficiency by 5%

As long as my system seems to be working properly, do I really need to have it serviced?

Up to 80% of all conditioning and heat pump compressor failures could be eliminated if the problems that lead to the failure were corrected in a timely manner.

Will the Peak Performance Service Agreement really pay for itself in the long run?

Depending on the current condition of your equipment regular service may pay for itself several times over in energy savings alone. Some air conditioning and heating problems can DOUBLE operating cost without improving comfort.
